Hi there. I'm currently building a prison map, but there are some things I've forgotten how to or never leaned to do.
Like, gatefields will still kill players and turn on or off, but they don't appear. Or, I would like to have a flashing light start at the push of a button, but instead the light starts at the beginning of the match and runs opposite of my alarm instead of along with it.
    I'd really appreciate any help.

Yes, you CAN get help here.. but the forum is almost inactive.
    But anyway:
The thing, with the alarm is solved pretty easy: you just need to add a "trigger_start" entry (e.g. like this: let's say, your alarm light is called "x" - so you put the start-trigger anywhere on the map an set, that it triggers x )
    ------
I didn't really understand your first problem.

    First problem !

    - you cant trigger Gate fields !
if you trigger that and you push E on a button and the gate field trigger will activate it, the Gate field explode.

so the gate fields never come back.

    ; )
